Sensex zooms 646 points; Nifty ends above 11,300

Equity indices on Wednesday finished with heavy gains after the government announced a 5 per cent hike in Dearness Allowance for central government employees and pensioners. The benchmark BSE Sensex soared 646 points or 1.72 per cent to close at 38,178; while the broader NSE Nifty moved 187 points or 1.68 per cent to settle at 11,313.
