Income Tax disputes of Rs 5.7 lakh crore tied up in pending cases

For the current financial year 2019-20 (FY20), the Central Board of Direct Taxes, or CBDT, will continue to focus on litigation management. Income tax (I-T) disputes aggregating to a demand of Rs 5.71 lakh crore were pending at the level of the first appellate authority as of March 31, 2019.
