Direct tax collection target achievable: CBDT chief

CBDT chief Pramod Chandra Mody has said that the re-calibrated target of direct taxes at Rs 13.35 lakh cr is difficult but achievable. In the last revised estimates, the target (for 2019-20) was fixed at Rs 13.78 lakh cr which was deemed as unrealistic as it was showing an increase of almost 24% year-on-year. He said that the 17.5% growth rate is not totally unachievable.
