RBI panel likely to discuss phased transfer of excess reserve

Members of the expert committee on the economic capital framework are discussing how much of the RBI’s excess funds can be given to the government, the person said, asking not to be identified because the talks are confidential. If the surplus is transferred in installments over two to three years, the matter won’t be as politicized, the person said.
