Markets open in red, Sensex nosedives nearly 1,000 points; Nifty below 10,200

Equity indices erased all gains posted on Wednesday due to the falling rupee and weak global cues. The Indian rupee today plunged to new lows against the US currency to hit an all-time low of 74.45 amid a rout in global equities.
