Deadline for filing ITR extended to August 31

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the due date for filing Income Tax Return (ITR) for the Assessment Year 2019-20 to August 31, 2019 from July 31, 2019 for certain categories of taxpayers. The CBDT on July 16 had quashed reports circulating on social media about large scale changes in ITR forms.
